Blehs from the Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet 2012
Ah, it's that time again. For more awards to be handed out - some to those who deserve it, some to those who don't. Either way, I don't keep up with who wins what. I just like to browse through the red carpet arrival list. So I commented on the Grammys 2012 red carpet fashion earlier on this year and there were more nays than yays. I think the same goes to the Billboard Music Awards 2012 red carpet fashion.
Here are some of my thoughts on the red carpet fashion this year.

Carrie Underwood.
Carrie, Carrie, Carrie. What is this mess of an Oscar de la Renta? What's with the sharp corners, awkward hem length and messy tulle? It's not very princessy or particularly whimsical if you ask me. The bodice looks promising, your hair looks great, your makeup is elegant but below that, it's just a huge tulle mess to me. And what's with the colorful beaded clutch? Looks more like something Suri Cruise would carry on a shopping trip.

Carly Rae Jepsen.
Love the catchy song but I can't say the same for your outfits, Carly. The top is super chic - love it; the jewelry - very fun; the sneakers - very cool; the pants - ugh, not so much. This would have been a cute outfit if it weren't for those unfortunate striped silver disco tights. They're just way too much.

As for this nude chiffon dress, it's - there's only one word for it - dowdy. It looks more suitable for a movie award show than a music award show. Music award shows are supposed to be fun. This color just falls flat and the design is pretty boring for a twenty-something-year-old to be wearing.

Christy Teigen.
Whoa, origami bird! Cool concept but not very flattering. I just don't see how having random flaps and folds is attractive. It all just seems very awkward.

Julianne Hough.
So bath towels are being blinged to pass off as celeb-worthy dresses? This is supposedly a wrap-style dress but the way I see it, it's a glittery bath towel with the end tucked under her armpit. Not her best look.

Julie Bowen
Now here's another bath towel dress. No, actually, I think it's a sack-style dress. Kind of shapeless with a drawstring hem of some sort. Ladies, you've already styled your hair nicely, put on decent makeup and picked out gorgeous footwear. Now why is it so hard to match an equally lovely dress to complete your look? What goes through your mind when you pick out the bath towel to wear to a formal event?

Katy Perry
Then we arrive at Katy who looks like she's lost some weight. She's the opposite of Julianne and Julie. She's wearing an amazing shimmery lavender, mermaid-esque dress and silver accessories that complements the dress but her makeup and hair don't add up. Katy, it's time to go back to plain dark hair or blond hair. Cut it out. These dyed tresses are beginning to freak us all out. The goth makeup has to go too, seriously.

Miley Cyrus
Miley, you're killing me. Your hair! Your shapeless, revealing, pants-less pantsuit! Your awkward striped heels! What is this abomination?! I'm not particularly on the Miley bandwagon but I have to say that she's had better looks than this! This is horrible, I can't look at it any longer. She looks like she rolled out of bed and hastily grabbed her dad's blazer on the way out.

Natasha Bedingfield
Pocket full of sunshine, indeed. This is... even messier than Carrie's dress.

Not that this look is any better but if she'd removed the flower in her hair, maybe her overall look might have been better. Maybe.

Nelly Furtado
Nelly's look is not too bad - very summery and chic. Well, minus the awkward black bra or whatever it is that's sticking out and minus the crocheted choker (maybe that's part of the dress).

Taylor Swift
When I look at Taylor's red carpet pictures, all I want to do is yawn. Predictable looks every single time. Either it's a shimmery gown or it's a flowy lace gown like this. Her makeup is usually always the same and her straight hair is boring. Maybe some of you would call this dress daring or different but I just feel that it's just boh-ring.

Zooey Deschanel
So I've noticed that some girls in Hollywood are into the whole retro-vintage fashion. Zooey is one of them (explains the black tights we always see her wearing) and if you haven't noticed, Taylor Swift is also into the feminine vintage thing. Honestly, Zooey does it better. Well, let's compare their vintage wardrobes in another post. For now, let's look at Zooey's dress. Drab or fab? It's a bit on the ehhh side. Not sure I'm feeling the whole studded vintage dress thing or the black tights or the black heels or the bright lipstick. So it's a nay for me.
So there you have it. What do you think of the red carpet fashion?
