you don’t care about me anymore

Taco started her music career today. Nah, just joking.

We were almost late for our lesson because there was no parking. Thank God, we parked at the nearest place. We made our way down the busy escalator. We got there and saw some people signing up for classes. As usual, Newt wasn't out yet.

In a few seconds, he was out. Wow. Great. We went in while Mom and the brother followed behind.

Mom told him to teach us some songs because Christmas was already over and we couldn't play anything. I didn't really hear the whole conversation. I was sitting inside, looking around and helping Taco unpack.. Mom told him we printed out something that we wanted to learn.

I don't know what happened to me. I went numb and embarrassed. It was kinda cheesy but if it wasn't for Mom, we wouldn't be learning songs. We would be going slow like slugs.

So, he asked us what we brought. We gave him a sheet of Daniel Powter chords. Yes, we were learning to play the guitar and Daniel plays songs on the piano but guitars can produce sounds as good as the piano. The song was Next Plane Home. Er, hehe.. exactly what I wanted to say out loud.

He didn't know who the hell Daniel Powter was and called him "Daniel Pewter". Wow. Great English you have there, teach. He asked us if we brought a CD. Like every week, me and Taco would look at each other, weirdly. He said he couldn't teach us without knowing the tune or anything so he asked Taco to sing the starting to help him understand the tune.

She did. I thought she was gonna tell him some BS and not do it but she did. I asked her why later and she said she was being sporting. Haha! I was pretending to stare at the timetable behind the door the whole time. I saw Newt laughing or smiling. Revenge because she laughed at him maybe? Oh, well. He told us to bring a CD next week.

Instead, he taught us some oldies song called Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer. I think that's the complicated name. Came back home and found out the song was 12 years old. OMG? I was really disgusted when he began singing. I thought I was gonna laugh but I didn't because I didn't look at his face.

The fingering for the song was quite easy though Newt kept saying I wasn't pressing the strings hard enough and my strings were dead. I was!!! If that was an acoustic guitar, my fingers would have been chopped into pieces. I'm really annoyed because I hear this every week. I've been correcting it really hard during the holidays and this is what I get?!! This isn't helping at all. Yeah, Dad. I know you told us, "practice makes perfect".

Whatever.

I got more inspiration now, knowing that we are learning a song. I definitely know that Taco is feeling more determined now. That's something good, I hope. I'm looking forwards to the next lesson now.

Oh yes. Newt thinks I should get a softer pick because I'm strumming too loudly and the guitar pick is too hard. Ooookay. You win, Taco! Mom, does that mean we can get some new picks?? A Fender one, maybe?
