20 things you should know about me

I should have done this a while back but better late than never, right? So here it is in no particular order, except for number 1:

  1. Reading. And. Writing. My two biggest loves of all time. For me, there is no one without the other. Thanks, Mom!
  2. I love big cats and big dogs, but not domestic cats… unless, of course, it’s Garfield.
  3. I have a slight obsession with red hair… I do think I would look horrifying with red hair though.
  4. I would pick rain over shine. Ask me about this. 😉
  5. I am not addicted to my phone. I can go days without checking it. Oh look, I just checked it and the battery has drained out.
  6. I hate bread crust.
  7. I love languages. I can speak 4 and a couple of tidbits of 2 other languages (not swear words, I promise). If I could I would learn them all.
  8. I’ve written stories in different languages – one of which I can neither read nor write for the life of me. How I managed to write a few sentences still amazes me to this day.
  9. I don’t have a best friend. Apply now, early bird registration starts today, just kidding.
  10. Painting my nails is how I relax and take my mind off everything that sucks/stresses me out. Sucks. Wow I really am Captain Eloquence.
  11. I would love to visit Europe/Scandinavia with my mom and C one day. Paris, Italy, Prague, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, the freakin’ works.
  12. I am secretly Japanese. Secretly, you say? Secretly, I say. 😉
  13. Once upon a time I wanted to learn how to play the piano but when my friends told me they had to take exams, I freaked and dropped the idea like a hot potato. No scary piano exams for me, thank you very much. If I were to learn an instrument, I would want to enjoy it, not dread the exams or practice 5 hours a day. Trust me, the neighbor girl used to play the piano obsessively every Sunday.
  14. I’ve been told not-too-politely by a teacher that I don’t dance very well. Therefore, I don’t dance. Thanks for stomping on my dreams of becoming a semi-pro dancer. Just kidding. But not really.
  15. I hate flat sandals. They’re so pretty to look at but I hate wearing them. I might as well be strapping on paper thin cardboard to my feet or walking around barefooted.
  16. I am hopelessly in love with San Francisco. I have no idea why but I just love it so much there. Take me baaack! Or you could send me a little token from SF, I wouldn’t mind that.
  17. I have a nail blog. After months of going back and forth between ‘who would want to see my ugly nails?’ and ‘these nail blogs are fantastic, maybe I should make one’, I (with the encouragement of C and my mom) decided to just do it. I would love it if you check out my nail blog and tell me what you think.
  18. I love tacos (the name is T for taco, no, seriously… I love tacos so much that I nicknamed myself after one) but I can’t find any hard taco shells around here and that makes me sad.
  19. I get nervous when I send comments/emails. I always feel like I’m writing a letter to the President or something.
  20. I love Capitalizing words and using emoticons when I’m enthusiastic about something. Please do not be afraid of the capitalizing monster.
  21. A bonus! C and I used to know – and probably still know – ALL the words to the movie The Terminal. The one where Tom Hanks gets stuck in JFK? Yes, that one.

What do you think? Do you think you know me better now? Do we have anything in common? Let me know in the comment box.

x T

  1. Great list! I am in awe of how many languages you know. You can learn piano without taking exams and just do it for the fun of it. I am going to San Francisco for my holiday next year, I can’t wait.

    • Thank you! I realized that much too late, unfortunately, and by that time my interest in piano lessons had somewhat… died. Haha.
OMG I am so jealous. I wish I were going with you. Have fun!! This might sound totally cliche (but I don’t care, heh) – The Golden Gate Bridge was one of the best highlights for me.

  2. I’m so impressed by your linguistic abilities!! What an amazing gift. I also love rain (the sound of it, smell of it, sight of it – everything!) and am NOT attached to my phone. I go days and days without getting any text messages sometimes haha! I could leave it alone for a few days and still not have any missed calls when I come back to it. That either makes me “not addicted to my phone” or “a huge loser”… I’m gonna go with the former. 😉

    • Thank you! I get it from my parents who are language lovers.
Another rain lover – yessssss! I’m so happy ^^ A lot of people I know don’t like the rain – the nerve of them to admit it!
High five for not being attached to phones. Um, yeah, I think I fall into the former category too. I can go weeks without getting a text so there ya go.

  3. I don’t even have a phone. Haven’t had one for a few years now. I didn’t use it, so no point! I hate talking on the phone and I communicate online with most people I communicate with regularly, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’d love to have an iPad though.

I can’t believe you don’t like cats. Excuse me while I find the picture I shared on my personal twitter when someone else I know said they didn’t like cats. … Ah, yes. GASP. Also, my cat is judging you.

High five on the rain thing. I too capslock when I’m enthusiastic about something. Not randomly capitalize words, but like, DUDE. LOOK AT THIS THING. That kind of capslock. I have social anxiety so I feel you on 19… sometimes. My antidepressants make it easier! Sometimes.

    • I’m still amazed and a bit envious of the fact that you don’t have a phone. I would totally drop mine in a minute but I still need it to make the occasional phone call and reply to friends via text. I do hate phone calls though.
I wouldn’t say I don’t like cats. I only like a rare few – Garfield-looking ones undoubtedly. Okay your kitty is cute because he (or is it a she?) is so fluffy. Some cats just creep me out.
Yay for CapsLock enthusiasts! And I had no idea so many people like rain as well! 😀
Sometimes is good enough! Hope your anxiety issues are taking it easy on you.

  4. I am so jealous of your language ability. I wish I was better at it. When I try to speak Spanish, Italian or French pop out. I’m trying to learn Russian and I can read it okay, but have no idea about the grammar. I get so confused.

Also, I don’t have a best friend. I feel like I should, but I have a husband and sisters and a dog. That counts, right?

    • Thank you! I wish I knew Russian but I’m intimidated by the alphabets.
No best friend? You too? High five! I’ve always had it in my head that everyone but me has a best friend. I have my mom, sister and dog so yes, your folks definitely count.
